Canna Lily Bulbs Gorgeous
The Canna Lily (not to be confused with Calla Lily)plant will grow very easily from seeds. Although, it’s much quicker with bulbs or rhizomes to get to flowering point.

One of two red canna lilies that just erupted out of my vegetable garden. I neither planted seeds nor transplanted any bulbs or roots for this type of flower, and there are none that I know of in my area. This further supports my theory that my garden is possessed.
Canna Lilies often, from a distance, look like one big flower. In actual fact when you take a closer look, there are many small blooms on each spike of the Canna. Like most plants, the flowers begin opening from the base of the flower spike. When the flowers begin to die-off, you can dead-head the plants or just leave them and they will eventually turn to seed pods.

Cannas grow best in full sun with moderate water in well-drained rich or sandy soil. Cannas grow from perennial rhizomes but are frequently grown as annuals in temperate zones for an exotic or tropical look in the garden.

The pods will be very green to start, then they will turn to a brownish color and dry out. Do not cut the stems off. Once the pods have dried, if you split it, you will see black seeds. Remove them from the pods and store in an air-tight container. Make sure no moisture is in the container, otherwise your seeds will go moldy.
Once you have collected all your seeds and the plant has finished its flowering, you can then cut the stems almost to the ground.
